About me and my partner: I am a cartographer and a musician (singer/songwriter/guitar player). My husband is a Systems technician for an Audio/Video/Alarm company and he is a musician as well (bass player). We met in 9th grade. We didn't date then though. We were friends and we had the same birthday. We both played music, so he asked me to jam with his band. We played Pink Floyd songs together in the 9th grade talent show. We reconnected 16 years later and fell in love... got married on our birthday last year and pregnant 2.5 months later. I am due Nov. 15, '07.

Most unusual cravings: I haven't really had much in the way of cravings, although if you put watermelon, corn-on-the-cob, chocolate milk, or ice cream in my reach I will devour it. I also like nectarines and baked potatoes. I have developed a weird aversion to onions, garlic, and chicken. All meat, really, but chicken kind of freaks me out. I still force it down though, because I need my protein

Morning sickness: When it started, how I tried to cure it: I think I started feeling sick about 5 weeks in. I had begun to think I wasn't going to get sick, but sure enough, I felt horrible. I didn't GET sick much- only once or twice, but I felt green all the time. I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat as much as I should have, but I finally figured out by maybe 10 weeks that if I ate something, I would feel better. The trick is forcing yourself to eat when it's the last thing you want to do. Ginger ale, Sprite, and Club Soda with lime. Jolly Ranchers, lemons.

The baby's sex -- to know or not to know? We decided not to find out. Partially because I've always wanted it that way, but partially for economic reasons. If this one is a boy, and we get all blue stuff at the shower, and the next one is a girl, then we'll have to go out & get all new stuff (theoretically) Personally, I guess I don't care if my girl has to wear robots & cars or my boy has to wear flowers & butterflies, but I think I would prefer that they have a neutral start in fashion, so I chose the Circo Jungle animal theme from Target. I am going to have my husband announce the baby's gender to me when "Little Buddy" is born.

Best piece of advice someone gave me about giving birth: When I was in the Dr. office discussing natural childbirth options with my Dr., I was brought down to earth when she said, "You can do whatever you want in childbirth as long as everything is going ok with the baby. But if the baby appears to be under stress or in danger, it's not about you anymore and we're going to have to take whatever measures we need to get that baby out safely." It made sense to me and eased my fears that they were going to 'take my maternal rights away' by forcing me to undergo an unnatural childbirth without necessity, like some of the books I've been reading have scared me into believing.

Worst piece of advice someone gave me about giving birth: I'll have to think about that one. Some people just get on my nerves, especially the ones who doubt my ability to give birth naturally.

Best piece of advice I can give about giving birth: I have none about childbirth- haven't been through it yet. I will say here, though, that my husband & I decided to hire a doula to help us achieve the natural childbirth we are hoping to achieve. We will both need the support. She is very helpful and is there to answer all the questions we don't want to bother the Dr. with.

Favorite maternity clothes/shoes: Clothes- gaucho shorts from Old Navy. I only wish they were 100% cotton though (polyester sucks in the summer), some stretchy T-shirts from Target. Birkenstock Boston clogs with the pillow soles.

Funny stories about my husband/partner during pregnancy: He thought Little Buddy's head was still the size of a fingernail at 4 months.

Hospital or home birth? I am not prepared this time for a home birth. I think I need to see how it goes in a hospital setting before I boldly go with the home birth. I bow graciously to any woman who makes the decision to do it at home. I will definitely look into it next time.

Breastfeeding or bottle feeding? I had a breast reduction in 2004, so I am doing all the research I can to prepare to breastfeed despite it. Can't go back & undo it, so I have to do what I can. I am reading a book called "Defining Your own Success: Breast Feeding After Breast Reduction Surgery" by Diana West. The vibe I get from it thus far is that the more prepared and educated you are beforehand, the better equipped you are to handle the situation and accept what comes your way. Also, the better chances you are to succeed because you know more methods, tricks, and options.

When I went into labor, I was. . . not in labor yet.

My labor . . . will be unique and beautiful

About baby: I love this little baby and can't wait to see him/her.

Looking back on my pregnancy, these moments were the:

Funniest:
Happiest:
