Bearing in mind that there is only a 20% chance of conceiving within every fertile month, I very much doubt that you are doing something wrong. However if you are worried about fertitlity, there are a number of things you can do to boost your chances of a successful pregnancy. For example, healthy diet, moderate exercise, not smoking/drinking alcohol, for yourself and your your partner. Stress also will hinder your chances. Good luck x

Thank you x" Hello de-ane, I just wanted to let you know that I am considered obese and am currently 29 weeks and 3 days pregnant with our first baby due on Nov. 14th. I am 5 ft. 11in. and weighed 280 lbs. when I got pregnant. I want you to know, however, I had made some serious lifestyle changes and was down to 280 lbs. from 350 lbs. before getting pregnant. At 350 lbs. I had irregular periods, often having two periods per month, which my doctor indicated as a lack of ovulation. I don't have PCOS, but was checked for it, as well as diabetes, and thyroid. All tests came back normal, so I decided to take charge of my health. After losing just 20 lbs. my periods became normal (31 day cycle). I followed the South Beach food guidelines: lots of fibrous fruits and veggies, whole grain carbohydrates and lean protein. I also exercised. I was feeling and looking better than I had in a looong time. When the hubby and I decided to try to conceive, I had a complete physical (Complete Blood Count, TSH, cholesterol and glucose) and my yearly done. All was well. We got pregnant the first month we tried...very lucky and very happy. Although I have gained 30 lbs. back w/ this pregnancy, it is ok. I have kept a lot of my healthy eating habits, even more important now to give my developing baby the nutrition he needs. I won't lie, I have made those trips to Wendy's and Pizza Hut, but they do not make up the whole of my diet. Also, I didn't restrict my caloric intake(to lose weight) during this pregnancy...Pregnancy is not the time to lose weight, but a time to eat appropriately. 300 additional calories are all that are needed during pregnancy...hard to maintain, though ;). Also, try to get an ob/gyn who isn't prejudiced against big people, only concerned with your and your baby's health. My dr. has never made negative comments on my weight. Good medical care from the get go is necessary. All my best to you and good luck TTC! ;)
