Sit back and relax because you are going to read a a story about a very funny but hectic pregnancy.......
About me and my partner:Whenpartner:When i was 20 i met the man i knew i was supposed to be with for the rest of my life and i knew he felt the same way so it wasn't a shock when i fell pregnant after only being with him for 6 months. Our families where really happy and i had a really easy pregnancy;but towards the last few months i was really getting anxious to have my bub as it was summer and with the extra weight i was carrying,it was making it hard to stay cool
Most unusual cravings: My partner really thought i had gone nuts because i only really started getting cravings from about 6 months on and it was the middle of summer, and all i wanted to eat was hot chips smothered in gravy and hot salsa with extra chili i sprinkle in.Oh it was just heaven...until when i would go to bed and i was up half the night with heart burn!!!HORRIBLE
Morning sickness: When it started, how I tried to cure it. I didn't get morning sickness that bad but there was a couple of times when i would feel sick but the weird thing about that was i would only get it right on 10pm so when it was bedtime i would be sick and when it was morning i would sleep until i got hungry HA HA but this only lasted for about 2 months tops then all i did was eat eat EAT
The baby's sex -- to know or not to know?Onknow? On our way to my 19 week scan we both agreed to find out the sex of the baby because we really wanted to know whether to start buying blue or pink as i was really sick of buying greens and yellows so when the doctor said we were expecting a boy we were over the moon especially my dad as he wanted a grandson to play footy with.My hubby didn't have a frown on his face for at least a week and i really couldn't wait to go and tell everyone!!!Plus the nursery was a beautiful wave of ocean blue.
Best piece of advice someone gave me about giving birth: It was definatllydefinitely when my mum said to me "the painkillers are there if you need them and don't feel like you are weak because you choose to have them"
Worst piece of advice someone gave me about giving birth: It was actually when i was in labour and one of the midwives said to me that "every contraction is like one more step to the top of that mountain, once you are there you can have a rest".........I HATE HIKING!!!!!!!
Best piece of advice I can give about giving birth:Itbirth:It would really have to be to make sure you have the right people in the room for support because by the end of my birth i had to make many apologies to the people i thought I'd offended e.g my mother-in-law i really didn't mean to call her a .......well you can figure it out ha ha!but besides that i will just give the same advice my mum gave me.
Favorite maternity clothes/shoes: Ever heard of the term "bare foot and pregnant"?well that was me! i never wore shoes unless i had to because i found that if i had shoes on for too long my feet would swell and it would be very uncomfortable. But when it came to clothes;i really loved to wear my baggy t-shirt and maternity skirt or when i was at home it would be tights and a sports bra!i never went for fashion,i went for comfort and i believe that every pregnant woman should choose comfort over fashion!its cheaper too ha ha!
Funny stories about my husband/partner during pregnancy: i think it would have to be when i went into labour and as we were driving toward the hospital my pains were getting a little worse so as soon as we reached the hospital,my hubby jumped out of the car and raced to the delivery suite, pushed the buzzer on the door and said(i still remember exactly what he said to this day)"OPEN THE DOOR,MY GIRLFRIENDS ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH"the poor nurse raced out to me,grabbed me and pretty much threw me on a bed all the while I'd forgotten about the pain and was laughing at how my love was so "calm" in an emergency.considering i didn't have the baby for another 5 days and the pains i was feeling was braxton hicks.
Hospital or home birth?Hospital.birth?Hospital. but i was in for 5 days prior to having my baby as i suffered from bad braxton hicks which then turned into real pain because the baby's head was actually pushing down on my pubic bone.It was so painful because his head was engaged but i wasn't dilating so i had to be induced.
Breastfeeding or bottle feeding? at first i was going to breast feed but when i had Aidan he was having trouble grasping on and i really wasn't ready to see my baby screaming to be fed so i grabbed a bottle and away he went.\
When I went into labor, I was. . . In hospital asleep. It was 5am in the morning and i was really annoyed because i wanted to sleep but when i fully woke up i was actually a little bit excited because the pains were not that bad but as the pain increased it was more a state of terror.I really felt for my poor mum as she was living all the way in the city at the time and had come to stay at my house while i was in hospital just in case i went into labour but when i was induced the doctor told me that it could be anything up to 2 days before anything happened. So after hearing this i told my mum to go home(to her place) and come back the next evening so she could get some clean clothes and sleep before making the 90min drive back the next night. But ...yes...no sooner had mum reached home 3 hours later she was back on the road coming all the way back to be my support.....
My labor . . . The first thing i really thought about was the fact i wanted my mum!!!!but then remembered how tired she must be because she had only got home and to come back but i really wanted her there so i asked the nurse to call mum and my partner.once they where there i was elated knowing i was not alone so i then told hubby to call dad and let him know.10 mins later i had my family and the in laws standing around me watching like a hawk as if i was a bomb about to explode! It was actually really funny! But it was no laughing matter when i finally dilated and mum, hubby and mum-in-law were the only ones in there as i pushed but i was in so much pain that i had an epidural which only numbed one of my legs so i could still feel the other half of my son being born!it was more a weird feeling rather than painful. Not long after Aidan was here weighing a healthy 7p10 and the elation i felt was just something beyond this world!i would do it again in a second!
About baby:Whenbaby:When he was born he had to be in the intensive care unit as he had some fluid on his lungs but the following day i got to take him up to my ward and show him off to all the other mums(as you do)I took him home 4 days later and have to say that motherhood was an easy and enjoyable thing to me,i just love it!!!Aidan is now 2 and is a breeze to raise,we have a lot of fun together and he so spoilt by the family. He is at the age now where he is more mischievous cheeky but i wouldn't give it up for the world!!!!!!!!
